At some point or another, somebody decided to try doing the yoke trim "stitch in the ditch" in black thread, instead of the usual matching gray. (That, or they forgot to change their thread before securing the bias trim.)
It may or may not have been the same person/people who also used black thread on Nog's DS9/NEM duty jumpsuit ...
